Product, Process & Service

We are the only internationally recognized accreditation body in Canada offering the Product, Process and Services Accreditation Program, which is based on ISO/IEC 17065, the international standard for providing product, process and services certification.

Canadian regulators at federal and provincial levels have embraced the value of third-party certification as part of their oversight to ensure the safety and performance of various products, including those in the electric, plumbing, gas and construction sectors, among others. SCC-accredited certification bodies must establish ongoing documented working relationships with applicable Canadian regulatory authorities in their field.

Manufacturers, developers, companies and organizations that need to get their products, process or services certified often turn to SCC-accredited certification bodies for third-party oversight. Reasons include procurement eligibility requirements, regulatory compliance and competitive differentiation.

We are signatories to the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) for this program, and all its related sub-programs. This means that certification by SCC-accredited certification bodies in this program is widely accepted internationally. Additionally, to uphold our signatory status, we undergo peer evaluations by the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), further enhancing trust.

This SCC accreditation signals that an organization is qualified to certify products, processes and services for which it is accredited, ensuring that standards are applied correctly and consistently. We create a foundation of trust by ‘checking the checkers’ and making sure certification bodies meet the requirements of national and international standards.
