Accredited Elevator and Escalator Certification Organizations

We are the only internationally recognized accreditation body in Canada offering the Accredited Elevator and Escalator Certification Organizations (AECO) Sub-program, which is based on ASME A17.7.1/CSA B44.7.1. As a pre-requisite, certification bodies must also be accredited to and ISO/IEC 17065, the international standard for providing product, process and services certification.

Canadian regulators at federal and provincial levels have embraced the value of third-party certification as part of their oversight to ensure the safety and performance of various products, including those in the elevator and escalator sectors. SCC-accredited certification bodies must establish ongoing documented working relationships with applicable Canadian regulatory authorities in their field.

Organizations that need to get their elevators and escalators certified often turn to SCC-accredited certification bodies for third-party oversight. Reasons include procurement eligibility requirements, regulatory compliance and competitive differentiation.

We are signatories to the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) for ISO/IEC 17065. This means that certification by SCC-accredited certification bodies in this program is widely accepted internationally.
