Bulletin date:
Bulletin number:
2023-01

Action required

Take note that SCC is resuming on-site activities for all office assessments for all programs, and that on-site assessments will take place at least every two years, especially for re-assessment visits.

All assessments that are already confirmed will remain unchanged.

Affected customers

Product, Process, and Service Certification Body Accreditation Program (CBAP), Certification Body Operating in Certification of Persons Accreditation Program (CPAP), Management Systems Certification Body Accreditation Program (MSAP), Inspection Body Accreditation Program (IBAP), Validation and Verification Body Accreditation Program (VVBAP), and Standards Development Organization Accreditation Program (SDO) accredited customers, applicants and assessors.

Background

SCC previously announced in July 2022 that it was resuming on-site assessments for certain activities. It is now expanding its on-site activities to include all office assessments for all programs.

Customers can request changes to how activities are conducted during the scheduling process, and SCC will review the rationale provided and risk associated with these requests on a case-by-case basis. For all activities, SCC will evaluate the appropriate modality of delivery (on-site, remote or hybrid), including a risk assessment.

While SCC appreciates the value of remote activities – and they will remain part of our service delivery model – there are limitations to this approach. There are also requirements as per ISO/IEC 17011 that indicate the need to conduct on-site assessments at least every two years.

New requirements

None

Deadline

This change applies to the activities identified above, starting April 1, 2023.
