Advisory committees
The Standards Council of Canada has two advisory committees to ensure that our Governing Council has access to a wide variety of advice, information and viewpoints. Both committees are established under the Standards Council of Canada Act.

Provincial-Territorial Advisory Committee
This committee:
- looks at standardization issues from the perspective of the provincial and territorial governments
- promotes cooperation and communications between the provinces, the territories and SCC
- encourages the provinces and territories to take part in Canada’s national standardization network
consists of representatives appointed by each provincial and territorial government

Standards Development Organizations Advisory Committee
This committee:
- focuses on strategic issues to strengthen the standards development system
- promotes collaboration and cooperation between SCC and standards development organizations (SDOs)
- consists of leaders from each of the SCC-accredited SDOs
