Sustainable Forest Management
We are the only internationally recognized accreditation body in Canada offering Sustainable Forest Management accreditation. As a pre-requisite, organizations must also be accredited to the following international standards: ISO/IEC 17021-1 for providing management systems audit and certification, and ISO 17021-2 for providing environmental management systems audit and certification.
Organizations implementing the CAN/CSA Z804 and CAN/CSA Z809 standards often turn to SCC-accredited certification bodies for third-party oversight. Reasons include procurement eligibility requirements, regulatory compliance and competitive differentiation.
Environmentally conscious consumers increasingly demand that their wood-based products come from sustainably farmed forests and that they are manufactured in an environmentally sound way. Certification to forestry management standards shows corporate social responsibility—a testament that the producer operates in a sustainable way that ensures a renewable supply of raw materials.
