Background
This bulletin follows an email customers received from their account manager in November 2023 alerting them that IAF MD 28:2023 IAF Mandatory Document for the Upload and Maintenance of Data on IAF Database was published.
IAF MD28:2023 will come into effect on October 26, 2024.

What is included in IAF MD 28
- outlines the mandatory requirements for accreditation bodies and certification bodies.
- provides guidance to conform with those requirements.

Why the IAF Database?
- It supports global industry and regulators who rely on accredited certification enabling them to verify the validity of accredited Management Systems certifications issued by certification bodies accredited by an IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) accreditation body.
- It facilitates information requests in a harmonized and digital format necessary for industry and regulators, and supports accreditation bodies and certification bodies to meet information request requirements.
It makes market information available – through aggregated analytics and benchmarks – for accreditation bodies and certification bodies to use free of charge.
New requirements
Certification bodies shall upload – at least once a month – the information detailed on all Management Systems certificates. Various methods are available to manage the upload process as listed in Annex B.1 of IAF MD 28 to suit your operations.
Data obligations for certification bodies are indicated in section 4.2 CB Data Obligations and justifications for exclusions are indicated in section 5 Justification for Exclusion.
Deadline
Certification bodies’ data upload conformance will be assessed during the assessment process starting October 27, 2024.
