Inspection Bodies

We are the only accreditation body in Canada offering the Inspection Body Accreditation Program, which is based on ISO/IEC 17020, the international standard for the operation of various types of inspection bodies.

Canadian regulators and authorities at federal, provincial, territorial and municipal levels have embraced the value of third-party assurance as part of their oversight to ensure the quality of inspections. SCC-accredited inspection bodies must establish ongoing working relationships with applicable Canadian authorities in the intended market of the inspected product, system or installation for each regulated area of accreditation. More information.

Organizations that need to get their products, systems or installations inspected turn to SCC-accredited inspection bodies for third-party oversight. Reasons include regulatory compliance requirements, conformance to applicable standards and codes, and safety assurance.

This SCC accreditation signals that an organization is qualified to inspect products, systems or installations for which it is accredited, ensuring that standards are applied correctly and consistently. We create a foundation of trust by ‘checking the checkers’ and making sure inspection bodies meet the requirements of national and international standards.
