Proficiency Testing Providers

We offer an internationally-recognized Proficiency Testing Providers Accreditation Program, which is based on ISO/IEC 17043, the international standard for the consistent operation of all proficiency testing. 

The foundation of any laboratory's credibility lies in its ability to produce accurate and reliable data. Quality assurance measures like proficiency testing play a crucial role in upholding the integrity and overall quality of laboratory results. Accredited proficiency testing providers produce samples which compare results from similar testing laboratories. This allows laboratories to assess and demonstrate the reliability of the data they produce, identify areas for improvement in their testing and measurement methods, pinpoint training needs, foster confidence in the performance of their testing and measurements, and assure laboratory competence and confidence in results.

For proficiency testing providers operating in Quebec, our program is conducted in partnership with the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ). Through this collaboration, proficiency testing providers undergo assessments by BNQ. Upon receipt of BNQ's evaluation and based on their findings, proficiency testing providers are accredited by SCC. 

We are signatories to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) for this program programs. This means that testing by SCC-accredited proficiency testing providers is widely accepted internationally. Additionally, to uphold our signatory status, we undergo peer evaluations by the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), further enhancing trust.

This SCC accreditation signals that an organization is qualified to perform proficiency testing, ensuring that standards are applied correctly and consistently. We create a foundation of trust by ‘checking the checkers’ and making sure certification bodies meet the requirements of national and international standards.
