Council member reappointed to the Standards Council of Canada

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased that Mr. Michael Burns, P.Eng.(retired), has been reappointed to our governing Council, for a term of 4 years. Mr. Burns was reappointed by the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry on October 17, 2022.

SCC’s Council plays a critical role in setting the strategic direction of the organization and in ensuring strong governance practices. Members are appointed based on their knowledge and experience, and they actively support SCC’s mandate to enhance Canada's economic competitiveness and well-being through the development and use of standardization.

We are delighted that Mike has been reappointed. With more than 35 years with the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Infrastructure, his contributions and perspective add tremendous value as we continue executing our ambitious plan to leverage the full power of standardization to improve the quality of life for all Canadians.
