CSA C296:19

Energy performance of walk-in freezer and walk-in cooler components
1 Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers (i.e., an enclosed refrigerated storage space that can be walked into) having a total chilled storage area of less than 278.71 m2 (3000 ft2). 1.2 This Standard does not apply to commercial refrigeration appliances covered under CAN/CSA-C657. 1.3 Energy performance evaluation of a walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer is done by evaluating energy performance of the principal components individually that make up a walk-in. This Standard applies to the following walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer components: a) display doors; b) non-display doors; c) non-display panels; and d) refrigeration systems. 1.4 In this Standard, “shall” is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; “should” is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and “may” is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application. 1.5 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
