STANDARD METHOD OF FIRE TESTS FOR NON-METALLIC ELECTRICAL AND OPTICAL FIBRE CABLE RACEWAY SYSTEMS
1 SCOPE 1.1 The requirements in this Standard apply to non-metallic raceway systems used to enclose optical fibre cables, communication cables and electrical wires and cables with combustible insulation and jackets that are rated FT4 and higher designed for use in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, and the National Building Code of Canada. NOTE 1 : Refer to CSA C22.2 No. 0.3, Test Methods for Electrical Wires and Cables, for additional information on FT6 and FT4 ratings for cables. See Appendix A for information on FT6 classification. NOTE 2 : Refer to CSA C22.2 No. 211.0, General requirements and Methods of Testing for Nonmetallic Conduit, for additional requirements on FT4 ratings for non-metallic raceways for use with cables that are not rated FT4 and higher. 1.2 The requirements in this Standard apply to non-metallic raceway systems for use with single insulated conductor and multi-conductor cables that are permitted to be installed either horizontally or vertically in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, and the National Building Code of Canada. 1.3 Provisions are included in this Standard to allow for an optional measurement of light obscuration in the combustion stream in the exhaust duct.
