Information technology - Security techniques - Guide for the production of Protection Profiles and Security Targets
Preface Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC. Also, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Canada participates in the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (ITU-T). This Standard supersedes CAN/CSA-ISO/IEC TR 15446-05 (adoption of ISO/IEC TR 15446:2004, first edition, 2004-07-01). At the time of publication, ISO/IEC TR 15446:2009 is available from ISO and IEC in English only. CSA will publish the French version when it becomes available from ISO and IEC. Scope This Technical Report provides guidance relating to the construction of Protection Profiles (PPs) and Security Targets (STs) that are intended to be compliant with the third edition of ISO/IEC 15408. It is also applicable to PPs and STs compliant with Common Criteria Version 3.1 [1], a technically identical standard published by the Common Criteria Management Board, a consortium of governmental organizations involved in IT security evaluation and certification. This Technical Report is not intended as an introduction to evaluation using ISO/IEC 15408. Readers who seek such an introduction should read Part 1 of ISO/IEC 15408. This Technical Report does not deal with associated tasks beyond PP and ST specifications such as PP registration and the handling of protected intellectual property.
