Luminaires - Part 2: Particular Requirements - Section 6: Luminaires With Built-In Transformers for Filament Lamps
This National Standard of Canada is based on International Standard CEI/IEC 598-2-6:1994 (second edition, 1994-06), including Amendment 1:1996. 1. Scope This section of IEC 598-2 specifies requirements for luminaires with built-in transformers for filament lamps, with supply voltages and output voltages not exceeding: - 1 000 V for class I and class II luminaires; and - 250 V for class 0 luminaires. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of IEC 598-1 to which reference is made. This section does not apply to class III luminaires. It is not necessary to use "Safety extra low voltage" (SELV) transformers to comply with the requirements of this section. However, such transformers may satisfy the functional requirements of this section. This Standard applies to the safety of such equipment designed to be installed on branch circuits not exceeding 600 V nominal or less between conductors in accordance with the rules of CSA Standard C22.1-02, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Note 1A: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, in CSA Special Publication SPE-2000-94, Guide for Electrical Equipment for Installation and Use in Canada. Class 0 luminaires are not permitted.
