1. Scope 1.1 This standard applies to one type of diesel fuel that is suitable for use in locomotive-type medium-speed diesel engines.¹ 1.2 This type of fuel may be suitable for use in other medium-speed diesel applications. 1.3 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use. ¹ Fuel suitable for high-speed diesel engines is covered by CAN/CGSB-3.517, Automotive Low-Sulphur Diesel Fuel for on-road (also called on-highway) applications and by·CAN/CGSB-3.6, Regular Sulphur Diesel Fuel for off-road (also called off-highway) applications (Appendix B).
