Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX) Tubing Systems for Pressure Applications
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard provides requirements for crosslinked polyethylene pressure tubing systems. Components are made in one standard dimension ratio (SDR 9) and are intended for use in potable water distribution systems at a maximum working temperature of 82°C and 690 kPa (100 psi). Note: The pressure rating for water at 23°C and 93°C is given in Appendix A. 1.2 The components covered by this Standard are intended for use in residential and commercial hot and cold potable water distribution systems, as well as sealed central-heating (including under-floor) systems. Note: This Standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This Standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to consult and establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.
