Standard for Reinforced Plastic Underground Tanks for Flammable and CombustibleLiquids
1. SCOPe 1.1 These requirements cover reinforced plastic non-pressure tanks that are used for underground storage of flammable and combustible liquids such as gasoline, diesel fuel, oxygenated motor fuels, aviation fuel, fuel oil, and lubricating oil. These tanks may be recognized for use with other products where the tanks have been investigated for such products. 1.2 These requirements cover tanks of either single or double wall construction. Tanks covered by these requirements are generally cylindrical or spherical in shape. 1.3 Tanks covered by these requirements are fabricated, inspected, and tested for leakage and structural strength prior to shipment from the factory as completely assembled vessels. 1.4 These requirements cover tanks where the primary tank may be single or multiple compartment. 1.5 These requirements cover tanks of capacities up to, and including, 250 000 L. 1.6 The requirements of this standard are for the construction of stationary tanks. The installation of these tanks may be covered by any of the following documents: A National Fire Code of Canada, Part 4; B CAN/CSA-B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment; C Environmental Code of Practice for Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products; and D Regulations of the appropriate authority having jurisdiction.
