CAN/CSA-E598-2-19-98 (R2017)

Luminaires - Part 2: Particular requirements - Section Nineteen - Air-handling luminaires (safety requirements)
This National Standard of Canada is based on International Standard CEI/IEC 598-2-19:1981 (first edition, 1981), including Amendments 1:1987, and 2:2002. Note - Amendment No. 2 reaffirmed 2007-03-28. 19.1 Scope This section of Part 2 of IEC Publication 598 specifies safety requirements for air-handling luminaires for use with a ventilation duct or ventilated space (plenum), for use with tubular fluorescent lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of Part 1 to which reference is made. Attention is drawn to the fact that this section specifies only the safety aspects of air-handling luminaires: no requirements are specified at present for performance aspects. Notes 1. - The expressions "ventilation" and "ventilated" in this section refer to forced ventilation. 2. - No requirements are specified at present in this section for the use of tungsten filament lamps and discharge lamps other than tubular fluorescent lamps. This Standard applies to the safety of such equipment designed to be installed on branch circuits not exceeding 600 V nominal or less between conductors in accordance with the rules of CSA Standard C22.1-02, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Note 2A: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, in CSA Special Publication SPE-2000-94, Guide for Electrical Equipment for Installation and Use in Canada.
