Cross-Linked Polyethylene (PEX) Tubing Systems for Pressure Applications
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard covers cross-linked polyethylene pressure tubing systems. Components are made in one standard dimension ratio (SDR 9) and are intended for use in potable-water distribution systems at a maximum working temperature of 82°C and 690 kPa (100 psi). Note: Pressure rating for water at 23°C and 93°C is given in Appendix A. 1.2 The components covered by this Standard are intended for use in residential and commercial hot and cold potable-water distribution systems, as well as sealed central-heating (including under-floor) systems. Note: This Standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This Standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with their use. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to consult and establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3 Notes to the text do not include mandatory or alternative requirements. The purpose of a note is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material that is not properly a part of the Standard. Notes to figures and tables are to be considered part of the figure or table and are written as mandatory requirements. Legends to figures are to be considered mandatory requirements.
