1. Scope 1.1 This standard specifies requirements for three-strand, hawserlaid, polypropylene monofilament rope. 1.2 For the purpose of this standard, "monofilament" rope shall mean rope made from filaments in excess of 5.5 tex per filament. 1.3 This rope is for general purpose use and may not be suitable for some specific applications. Polypropylene rope should not be used in situations where it is likely to receive extended exposure to sunlight or in situations relating to the preservation of human life such as life lines or for other lifesaving purposes. 1.4 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
