Guide to the Selection and Use of Soaps and Detergents
1. Scope 1.1 This standard is intended for use as a guide in the correct choice of standard products for cleaning operations in public buildings and equipment. The standard divided into two parts as follows: 1.1.1 Part 1 contains general recommendations and precautions on the cleaning of floors, walls and woodwork in public buildings. 1.1.2 Part 2 gives a summary of form, properties and uses of soaps, detergents and cleaning agents covered by the CAN/CGSB 2 series of standards. Note: A map showing the hardness of Canadian surface waters is given in Appendix A. 1.2 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
