Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - Part 2: Particular requirements for floor treatment and floor cleaning machines, for industrial and commercial use
1 Scope This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Replacement: This standard applies to electric motor-driven floor polishing (including waxing and buffing), scrubbing and grinding, scarifying and carpet shampooing appliances primarily designed for industrial and commercial use, with or without attachments, including appliances incorporating wet and/or dry suction which are not within the scope of IEC 335-2-10. Appliances incorporating wet and dry suction shall also meet the appropriate requirements for industrial vacuum cleaners. Industrial and commercial uses are, for example, cleaning and floor treatment in shops, offices, hotels, schools, hospitals and factories. This standard does not apply to: - automatic floor treatment machines for which a standard is under consideration; - appliances intended to be used in locations where conditions prevail, such as a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas). For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour.
