1.1
These requirements cover the adaptation of tank assemblies contructed in
accordance with the Standards described in Clause 1.2 for the collection and
storage of used oil.
1.2
The tanks shall be of the non-pressure type and constructed in accordance with
the basic requirements of one of the following Standards:
A. ULC-S601 - Standard for Shop Fabricated Steel Abovegound Horizontal Tanks
for Flammable and Combustible Liquids;
B. CAN/ULC-S602 - Standard for Aboveground Steel Tanks for Fuel Oil and
Lubricating Oil;
C. CAN/ULC-S603 - Standard for Steel Underground Tanks for Flammable and
Combustible Liquids;
D. CAN/ULC-S603.1 - Standard for Galvanic Corrosion Protection Systems for
Steel Underground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids;
E. ULC-S630 - Standard for Shop Fabricated Steel Aboveground Vertical Tanks
for Flammable and Combustible Liquids;
F. CAN/ULC-S643 - Standard for Shop Fabricated Steel Aboveground Utility Tanks
for Flammable and Combustible Liquids;
G. ULC/ORD-C58.10 - Jacketed Steel Underground Tanks for Flammable and
Combustible Liquids; or
H. ULC/ORD-C142.5 - Concrete Encased Steel Aboveground Tank Assemblies for
Flammable and Combustible Liquids.
1.3
Used oil tank assemblies may be of single wall design or be provided with
integral secondary containment.
1.4
When a tank is provided with integral secondary containment, it shall be in
accordance with the appropriate requirements.
1.5
Installation of used oil tank assemblies shall be subject to:
A. National Fire Code of Canada; and
B. Regulations of the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
