Test Method for Measuring Energy Consumption and Capacity of Automatic Household Clothes Washers
1.1 This Standard specifies the methods to be used for measuring the capacity and energy consumption of automatic household electric clothes washers. 1.2 This Standard describes methods for determining energy consumption, and specifies energy consumption limits for top-loading compact and standard clothes washers. 1.3 This Standard applies to household automatic top-loaded and front-loaded clothes washers. Wringer washers and twin tub washers/spinners are not included within the scope of this Standard. 1.4 Hereinafter, the word "washer" shall apply to all the types in Clause 1.3 unless otherwise specified. 1.5 This Standard is to be considered as a measure of performance (energy consumption and capacity) and is not intended to preclude the exercise of ingenuity in the design or improvement of clothes washers. 1.6 This Standard does not apply to front-loading water-heating clothes washers designed to heat cold inlet water by an internal washer water-heating device. 1.7 The values given in SI (metric) units are standard. The values given in parentheses are provided for information only.
