CAN/CSA-Z241 Series-92 (R1998)
1. Scope
Z241.0
1.1 This Standard provides the definition of the term park model trailer as used in the CAN/CSA-Z241 Series, Park Model Trailers. It also gives general safety requirements that apply to the other Standards in the CAN/CSA-Z241 Series.
Z241.1
1.1 Requirement Specification This Standard specifies vehicular requirements for park model trailers including minimum requirements for the coupling and tongue or A-frame as well as for the running gear of the trailer.
1.2 Standard Application This Standard applies to park model trailers equipped with limited-use running gear.
Z241.2
1.1 General This Standard outlines the minimum requirements for materials, products, equipment, and workmanship needed to ensure that park model trailers will provide adequate (a) structural strength and rigidity; (b) protection against corrosion, decay, insects, and other similar destructive forces; (c) protection against the hazards of fire; (d) resistance to the elements; and (e) durability and economy of maintenance.
Z241.3
1.1 General This Standard sets the minimum installation requirements and material standards for a plumbing system in a park model trailer.
1.2 Disclaimer This Standard is not intended as a design specification or an instruction manual for untrained persons.
Z241.4
1.1 This Standard applies to the factory installation of propane appliances and equipment in park model trailers.
Note: CGA Standard CAN1-B149.2 was used as a basis for the preparation of this Standard and should be consulted for installations not covered here.
Z241.5
1.1 General This Standard applies to the electrical requirements for park model trailers that are intended to be connected by a cord and attachment plug to a source of electrical supply not exceeding 250 V between conductors or 150 V to ground and 50 A maximum in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
1.2 Nonapplicable Types This Standard does not apply to (a) recreational vehicles covered in CAN/CSA-Z240.6.2; (b) mobile homes; (c) mobile industrial or commercial structures; (d) transportable housing or other structures for use on permanent foundations; and (e) the 6 or 12 V battery-operated vehicular lighting and brake wiring systems that are covered by CSA Standard CAN/CSA- Z240.1.2, provided that the conductors of this system are not in contact or cannot come in contact with the conductors of the higher voltage system.
1.3 Requirements The requirements of this Standard are based on CSA Standard C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Where no specific requirements are given those of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, apply.
