Standard Practice for Exposing Plastics to a Simulated Soil Environment
This National Standard of Canada is based on draft ASTM Standard D3826. 1. Scope 1.1 This Standard outlines a method for determining the effect of exposure to a simulated soil on the properties of plastics in the form of moulded and/or fabricated articles, tubes, rods, sheets, and film. Changes in visual, chemical, and mechanical properties may be determined by the applicable method (see Appendix A). 1.2 This Standard is a qualitative test procedure for the rating of plastics and calls for somewhat subjective interpretation of visual effects. 1.3 This Standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health-related measures and any regulatory limitations prior to use of this Standard. 1.4 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
