1.1 This standard applies to mineral or white spirits type of petroleum distillate suitable for general use as a paint and varnish thinner. It can also be used for similar types of coating materials that do not require special thinners, such as low flash or high solvency thinners. 1.2 This thinner may be used to clean brushes and spraying equipment where it is a specified reducer for the materials been applied. 1.3 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
