CAN/CSA-F379.2-09 (R2018)
1. Scope
1.1 This Standard is concerned with the performance, durability, and safety of packaged seasonal solar domestic hot water (SSDHW) systems designed to provide hot water for small residential buildings. In these systems freeze protection is accomplished manually, with or without a device intended to offer limited freeze protection. It is intended to cover systems that provide all or a significant fraction of the hot water requirements of small residential buildings or vacation homes by solar energy.
1.2 This Standard applies primarily to systems that use water in their outdoor piping, but it does not exclude other systems.
1.3 This Standard prescribes requirements for a packaged system as proposed by a manufacturer and for all subcomponents and materials.
1.4 This Standard is concerned with the components and materials supplied by the manufacturer, with the adequacy of the assembly and installation instructions, and with the operation of the system after it has been assembled according to these instructions. It is not concerned with site preparation or installation procedures.
1.5 This Standard is not intended as a design specification or an instruction manual for untrained persons.
1.6 This Standard does not apply to systems designed for use when the ambient temperature falls below -10°C.
