1. SCOPE 1.1 This provisional standard applies to symbols intended for use in communicating information to users of passenger transportation facilities, with emphasis on messages related to public services and safety. 1.2 This standard is intended to provide compatibility with existing standards such as CAN3-Z321-77 "Signs and Symbols for the Occupational Environment", and to reflect the principles established by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Technical Committee TC 145/SC 1 (Public Information Symbols).
