1. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to heat pump water heaters and refrigerant desuperheaters rated at 600 V or less, designed to be installed indoors in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, and the applicable local Plumbing Code. 1.2 This Standard applies to packaged heat pump water heaters (which hereinafter may be referred to as "equipment") consisting of a heat pump water heater and an associated storage tank of less than 610 mm inside diameter. 1.3 This Standard also applies to heat pump water heaters without a storage tank intended for connection to the existing plumbing system. 1.4 This Standard applies to heat pump water heaters and desuperheaters using refrigerant 12, 22, 500, or 502. The use of other refrigerants shall be subject to investigation.
