1. OBJECT AND SCOPE The object of this standard is to establish requirements for dimensions, characteristics and test methods relating to rigid* pipe and fittings, manufactured from PVC compounds, used in underground applications for conveying liquids under no pressure. It covers rigid, non-perforated, smooth interior wall (see note 1), pipes and fittings with a nominal diameter equal to or under 150 mm, generally equipped with sockets for permanent solvent cement assembly or for elastic gasket seal assembly. This standard applies especially to the drainage piping listed below: a) sewage piping, municipal domain connections; b) sewage piping, private domain connections under buildings; c) sewage piping, private domain connections away from buildings; NOTE 1 - Pipe and fittings may be smooth or corrugated, single or multiple wall, but their interior surface shall be smooth.
