Flammability Testing of Polymeric Materials
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard provides test procedures for assessing the flammability properties of polymeric materials, used in electrical equipment in response to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions. 1.2 The test procedures listed in this Standard are provided in a recommendatory sense for Canadian Electrical Code. Although the verbal auxiliary "shall" is used to state the requirements of each test procedure given, it is essential to recognize that the procedures are nonmandatory in themselves unless mandated by individual Standards of Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code, in Standards of other standards-writing organizations, or by users of this Standard, 1.3 Accompanying each test procedure is a series of observations, to be made and recorded, that are to be used when determining compliance with the criteria sert forth in the individual Standards of Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. This Standard provides procedures for making reproducible observations and serves as an aid in classifying materials.
