Commercial and Industrial Steam Cleaning Machines
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to complete commercial-industrial steam cleaning machines which are either gas*-fired or oil+-fired. *Natural, manufactured or liquefied petroleum gas, etc. +Grades as listed in CSA Standard B140.0, Definitions and General Requirements for Oil Burning Equipment. 1.2 The requirements of Clauses 1 to 8, apply to both oil-fired steam cleaning machines and to gas-fired steam cleaning machines. Clause 9 covers additional requirements for gas-fired steam cleaning machines and Clause 10 covers additional requirements for oil-fired steam cleaning machines. 1.3 These requirements apply to complete commercial-industrial steam cleaning machines comprising a continuous coil type heating system, with no space for steam accumulation, in which the solution is heated to a temperature below the saturation temperature for the pressure in the coil and intended to discharge droplets of hot solution (212F or below) from each cleaning nozzle at high velocity. 1.4 These requirements apply to steam cleaning machines intended to discharge only the cleaning solution and to those intended to discharge cleaning solution or rinse water as required by the operator. 1.5 These requirements apply to steam cleaning machines which may be portable or which may be installed as stationary equipment. 1.6 These requirements apply to steam cleaning machines which are manually controlled at the machine to supply the demand at the cleaning nozzle(s) and to those machines which are automatically controlled in accordance with the demand at the cleaning nozzle(s). 1.7 These requirements apply to steam cleaning machines which supply one or more cleaning nozzles and are primarily intended for cleaning or surface treating purposes. 1.8 These requirements apply to steam cleaning machines driven by electric motors or by internal combustion engines, or by other prime movers. 1.9 Devices or products having materials or forms of construction differing from those contemplated or covered by these requirements but meeting the intent of the requirements, may be examined and tested according to the intent of the requirements, and if found to be substantially equivalent, may be given recognition. 1.10 Devices or products which comply with these requirements shall not be acceptable if, when examined and tested, they are found to have additional features which impair the results contemplated by the requirements.
