Note: The project need for this NOI (originally published on April 27, 2021) was updated by the responsible SDO on June 22, 2021.

This part of ISO 12402 specifies the safety requirements for buoyancy aids with a buoyancy of not less than 50 N used in sheltered waters with help and rescue close at hand under such circumstances where more bulky or buoyant devices can impair the user's activity. It applies to buoyancy aids used by adults or children.

This part of ISO 12402 is not applicable to one-piece suits.

Project Need
UL proposes an amendment to UL 12402-5 to revise rearming kit requirements for inflatable buoyancy aids, revise infant buoyancy aid testing to align with UL 1123, add a definition of whitewater, and correct the infant and infant/child mass markings.
