STANDARD METHOD OF TEST FOR THE EVALUATION OF THERMAL BARRIERS FOR FOAMED PLASTIC
Scope:
1.1 The purpose of the test is to evaluate the temperature transmission performance of a protective covering over foamed plastic when the assembly is subjected to a standard fire exposure condition following the Standard Time-Temperature Curve as described in Section 5, Test Conditions.
NOTE: In the National Building Code of Canada, these protective coverings are commonly referred as thermal barriers.
1.2 This Standard includes classifications based on the use of Small-Scale horizontal and Large-Scale vertical or horizontal test specimens.
1.3 It is the intent that classifications shall register performance during a period of exposure and shall not be construed as determining suitability for use after fire exposure
