Scope

1 SCOPE
1.1 This Standard covers manual stations and their accessories for installation in ordinary locations,
indoor and outdoor, for use in fire alarm systems.
1.2 A manual station having a pre-wound signalling mechanism and equipped with a tripping
electromagnet to permit automatic actuation by separate detectors, and similar combination devices, will
be judged with respect to compliance with the applicable requirements for both manual stations and
electrically actuated transmitters.
1.3 This Standard does not cover municipal fire alarm boxes or electrically actuated transmitters.
1.4 This standard also covers manual stations used for ancillary service, such as manual stations for the
electrical release of extinguishing systems.

This Revision seeks to address new requirements in the National Building Code of Canada 2015, that certain manual stations shall be operable with a closed fist and with a force of not more than 22.2 N, plus additional editorial items.
