Standard for Exhaust Cleaning and Recirculation Assemblies for Commercial and Institutional Kitchen Exhaust Systems
Scope:
This proposal updates the section for recirculating assemblies in ULC-S647. These two proposals address the connection of ductwork as well as the materials that shall be used for the overall assembly. The connection of ductwork before and after the assembly should be defined by the applicable building code in the jurisdiction where the assembly is being installed. Installation and operation codes for commercial kitchens which are being adopted by local authorities may prohibit connection to the heating system as allowed by the referenced building code. As the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) determines what products may be suitable for installation in their jurisdiction it would not be prudent to define the duct connections that will be made in the field in the text of this standard. The AHJ shall be consulted before product are installed.
