These requirements apply to speakers, rated at 300 V or less, for fire alarm and signaling systems intended for

  1. indoor and/or outdoor installation:
  2. use in ordinary (non-hazardous or non-corrosive) indoor and outdoor locations
  3. use in hazardous or corrosive locations
  4. in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, Safety Standard for Electrical Installations; and with CAN/ULC S524, Standard for Installation of Fire Alarm Systems.

Project Need
Development of a new fifth edition of CAN/ULC-S541 – ANSI/UL 1480 that will include updated requirements for waking effectiveness, abnormal operation and burnout tests, power v. voltage evaluation, directional characteristics, and other miscellaneous clarifications.
