Project Need
A number of UL/ULC fire and life safety standards now allow for the option of non-printed installation instructions for products that are not installed by consumers, i.e., products that are installed by professional installers. ULC 541, ULC 525, and ULC 526 are those that already have that option. Proposals are in process for all professionally installed, system connected device standards. This proposal will help to create a more sustainable fire protection industry by avoiding the unnecessary production and disposal of paper installation manuals. If an installer needs to reference the instructions, he or she may view them on a mobile device.
