Note: This NOI was withdrawn by the responsible SDO on June 27, 2023. Point of Entry (POE) Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems are used to treat drinking water. RO water treatment equipment reduce total dissolved solids, heavy metals, microbes, inorganics, and organic water contaminants. POE ROs are typically installed after the water meter in residences or businesses.

Project need:

Project Need
There is increasing concern for the quality of water from all sources. Reverse Osmosis systems are not being installed at point of entry. However, there are no standards to validate any claims or ensure a minimum water quality. Currently standards for these device in Canada do not exist. This standard meets the needs of stakeholders: Architects, Plumbing contractors, Codes officials, Manufacturers, plumbing installers, plumbing engineers and specifiers.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.
