Note: The ICS code for this NOI was updated by the responsible SDO on April 23, 2024.
HSO's Palliative and End-of-Life Standard is designed to target adult populations, including seniors. Palliative and end-of-life care is an approach to care delivery provided to those living with life-threatening conditions or serious illnesses. It focuses on improving quality of life, reducing physical and psychological symptoms, ensuring that clients have a peaceful and dignified death, and providing support to families and caregivers.
Project need:
This standard is being developed to provide organizations that offer palliative and end-of-life care services with guidance on how to ensure quality and safety for clients and their families. The scope includes adult and senior populations and is applicable across settings where services are provided, including hospitals, hospices, and the home and community.
