(a) water barrels and containers that are not connected to the plumbing system; and

(b) cisterns that form an integral part of municipal water works or municipal water supply systems.

1.4 Requirements for potable water cisterns

Specific requirements for cisterns intended for potable water applications are specified within each standard of the CSA B126 Series where applicable and identified as additional requirements for potable water cisterns.

1.5 Diction

In CSA Standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and "can" is used to express possibility or capability.

Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.

Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.

1.6 Dual dimensions

The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purpose of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only. All references to gallons are to U.S. gallons.
