Scope:

Scope

The purpose of this new Standard would be to provide minimum requirements, guidance, and best practices for the quantification of vent gas emissions, standardized metering, testing, estimating and reporting requirements.  Direct vent gas emission metering is often an impractical task as it may imply metering of intermittent, very low pressure, or high humidity and acidic gases. Few metering technologies offer the ability to economically quantify volumes and provide accurate and precise readings across a range of common venting situations. Testing techniques can be subject to biases and inaccuracies in results due to insufficient duration or frequency based on the intermittency of the vent flow

Project Need
There is a regulatory requirement coming into effect in 2020 to estimate vent gas from compressor seals.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.

Individual SDOs are responsible for the content and accuracy of the information presented here. The text is presented in the language in which it was provided to SCC.
