Scope

This Standard addresses issues related to the safety of human tissues used for transplantation. It includes quality system requirements and aspects of safety for potential and actual donors and recipients, personnel, and others who could be exposed to, or affected by, the transplant of tissues

Project need:

Project Need
Recent improvements in disinfection processes and continued improvements in this area may allow for the disinfection and release of previously discarded tissue donations. As tissue donations are a limited commodity, the destruction of potentially valid samples reduces the availability of tissues to the Canadian population. This amendment will revise the standard to account for improvements in disinfection processes
