Scope

Proposed Scope:    To develop a standard covering the test requirements and minimum energy performance requirements used to measure battery charger energy that are

(a) intended to charge secondary battery chemistries such as nickel cadmium, lead acid, lithium ion, and nickel-metal hydride but not primary cell chemistries such as alkaline “dry” cells; and

(b) with a nameplate input rating greater than 125VAC or greater than 20 amps

(c) including performance metrics of charge return factor, power conversion efficiency, maintenance power, no battery power and power factor

(d) intended to cover charger technology of type ferro-resonant, SCR, hybrid and high frequency
