Scope

1.1
This Standard applies to submersible lighting systems and associated components for installation in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I that are:

a) permanently connected to branch circuit; or

b) portable type, cord-connected or direct plug-in type.

This Standard covers submersible lighting systems for connection to a supply circuit of not more than 150 V, intended for swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, fountains, decorative pools, waterfalls, and similar submersible applications.

This Standard applies to the following associated components:

a) isolating-type power supply;

b) double insulated power supply;

c) one or more luminaire assemblies of the incandescent, fluorescent, CFL, HID, or any LED technologytype;

d) flexible cable and associated connectors intended for use in the secondary circuit;

e) junction and deck boxes for swimming pool luminaires;

f) junction boxes for submersible lighting systems; and

g) forming shells for use with wet-niche luminaires.

This Standard does not apply to luminaires or junction boxes covered by other CSA standards such as:

a) Low voltage landscape luminaires covered by CSA C22.2 No. 250.7.

b) In ground recessed luminaires covered by CSA C22.2 No. 250.0.

c) Junction or outlet boxes covered by CSA C22.2 No. 18.1 and CSA C22.2 No. 18.2.
