This document determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use. It covers only hog fuel and wood chips produced from the following raw materials:

- forest, plantation and other virgin wood;

- by-products and residues from wood processing industry;

- used wood;

- blends and mixtures.

Project need:

Project Need
To align Canadian requirements with those of international standards in the solid biofuel subject area. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of stakeholders. It will provide the industry with a document determining the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use. This proposed standard is intended to be a new CSA adoption of the following standard: ISO/TS 17225-9:2021
