Scope:

This document determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded wood pellets for non-industrial 
and industrial use. This document covers only wood pellets produced from the following raw materials: 
—    Forest, plantation and other virgin wood; 
—    By-products and residues from wood processing industry; 
—    Chemically untreated used wood. 
Thermally treated biomass pellets (e.g., torrefied pellets) are not included in the scope of this document. 

Project need:

This proposed New Edition is being developed at the request of stakeholders. It will provide the industry with specifications and classes of graded wood pellets. This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interest; ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users.
