Scope

The project provides a framework for the estimation of energy generation from PV panels and PV coupled with storage systems based on sizing of these components as compared to the modelled load-based energy needs for a planned residential construction. It includes calculation of associated GHG emission reductions based on the estimated energy generation of PV panel and PV coupled with energy storage. The standard targets new and planned residential constructions in residential sector in Canada.

The ultimate goal of the work is to support stakeholders in their decarbonization efforts and GHG emissions reduction goals by increasing Distributed Energy Resources (DER) deployment.

Project Need

This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of the regulatory authority category. It will provide the industry with a guideline on the sizing of solar systems with storage. To support decentralized renewable energy implementations through the transition to Net-Zero and the electrification of the grid by providing standardized guidance for sizing and design development to the new built residential sector.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.

Individual SDOs are responsible for the content and accuracy of the information presented here. The text is presented in the language in which it was provided to SCC.
