d) manually operated valves for use in plumbing systems, which are covered by ASME A112.4.14/ CSA B125.14.

1.2.1

This Standard does not specify requirements for materials, construction, or performance tests of backflow preventers. Such requirements are specified in the CSA B64 Series, in ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1, and in CSA B125.3. See Table 1.

1.2.2

This Standard does not specify requirements for maintenance or field testing after the initial installation. Such requirements are specified in CSA B64.10.1.

Project need:

Project Need
To update the current standard due to user experience/feedback/new technology. This proposed New Edition is being developed at the request of the B64 Technical Committee. It will provide the industry with up to date requirements for the selection and installation as well as maintenance and field testing of backflow preventers This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interests: a) ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users, and b) addressing needs of regulators by providing suitable requirements.
