The requirements provided in this Standard are intended to minimize the hazards posed to young children by corded window covering products.

1.2

This Standard applies to all interior corded window covering products, their components, related hardware, and labelling which are manufactured, imported into, advertised, or sold in Canada for consumer use. It also applies to second-hand units that are advertised, distributed, or sold in Canada for consumer use.

Project need:

Project Need
This Standard, CAN/CSA Z600-14, had been mandated by Health Canada under the Corded Window Covering Products Regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. As of April 15, 2019, new regulations for Corded Window Covering Products have been issued by Health Canada which no longer reference CAN/CSA Z600-14. The new Health Canada Regulations remove the hazard from applicable products, including custom products. Hence CAN/CSA Z600-14 is being withdrawn, as this Standard is no longer subject to maintenance nor update by a CSA Group committee.
